ABOUT THE CITY
The land of the Alps
Switzerland is the land of the Alps, Heidi and yodelling, right? If this is your perception, you’re in for a big surprise.
The city of Chur has around 37,000 inhabitants. As the oldest city in Switzerland, it has a lot to tell and offer: Picturesque streets, modern shopping options, cultural offers, cafés, restaurants and bars: the car-free Old Town almost has a Mediterannean flair about it.
However, the Alpine city also offers snow-covered mountains and pristine nature. The mountain railway drives directly from the city to Chur’s local mountain of Brambrüesch, which has its own ski area in winter and an Alpine bike park in summer.
