RESEARCH AND PROJECTS

The ITMN Network offers international collaboration opportunities for all university members and business partners in developing and conducting innovative research projects.

Beyond the classroom, staff located in all of our ITMN member Universities are active researchers, providing an international forum of tourism and education researchers and collaborators.

For example, in 2016, ITMN researchers collaborated to produce a special edition of Dos Algarves about slow tourism with contributions from researchers from three ITMN universities. Our current project is investigating how tourism documents reconcile claims to be sustainable with aspirations to grow tourism. ITMN members have helped collect the documents, Kate Torkington from Universidade do Algarve has conducted the linguistic analysis and a forthcoming paper is being written by Kate, Jo Guiver (University of Central Lancashire and Vice President Research of ITMN) and Davina Stanford of Leeds Beckett University.

Our students are also considered researchers and the ITMN also facilitates contact with experts in the topic/field of their own research, usually as part of the Master Thesis. Our growing archives of theses/dissertations also provides a useful resource for research for current students and staff.
